I can understand loyalty to something or someone. Continuing routing for the Vikings is way beyond loyalty. It’s almost pure crazy and frustrating.

I know that a team can’t win every game. There have to be a winner and a loser. If a team wins too much, people becomes suspicious. For example: the New England Patriots.

The joke goes, “why can’t the Vikings eat cereal? They choke every time they comes to a bowl.”

The Minnesota Vikings had been to 4 Super Bowl and lost all 4 of them. Don’t get me wrong, they are not the only team to lose all 4 Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills did it too.

The only difference, the Bills had lost 4 in a row pretty much.

Believe me, I felt living up here in North Dakota and Minnesota, a person should route for their home NFL team, the Vikings. I just get so frustrated with them for constantly losing and choking.

There is one NFL team I dislike more and that is the Detroit Lions. They have not been to a Super Bowl yet.

What gets me, when the Vikings plays against the Lions and loses; I have to asked, “How can they lose to the worse team in the NFL?”

It’s gets frustrating every time to see the Vikings constantly choking. It’s the added stress on a person life. Why do you want that in your life?

It’s like working at a dead-end job or staying in a love-less marriage. Why bother? They are like an emotional vampire. They just drain you emotionally.

In 2018, the Vikings had a chance to make history by being the only NFL team to have a home field advantage at the Super Bowl. They had blown it though. It could had been them against the Patriots; but rather it was the Eagles who beat the Patriots instead. I have to admit part of me was hoping that the Vikings could pull it off and make history. Once again they choke and let a lot of people down.

When it seems that they choked during the playoffs, they blame other people instead of taking responsibility themselves. They either blames the coach, the manager, the referee, and the list goes on.

When the Eagles beats them, they blamed them and called them outright names.

Some people even goes as far as to say that the Super Bowl is rigged because of the Vince Lombardi trophy; and he played for the Green Bay Packers.

They should stop blaming others and look within to see why they keep choking.

I remembered when I was with a group from the Twin Cities as we were going through Wisconsin on the way to Indianapolis for a Work & witness trip. I mentioned that Wisconsin is such a beautiful state. Believe me, that wasn’t the thing to say to someone who is loyal to the Vikings. Wisconsin is the Green Bay Packers home turf. I don’t care, because Wisconsin is beautiful and it’s God’s country. At least, the Packers had won Super Bowl.

Even the Chicago Bears had won a Super Bowl.

I’ve got some healing for you to help you with your frustration with the Vikings. You don’t have to keep routing for them year after year; unless you enjoyed being stressed out every time. If you enjoys the frustration, so be it. That’s your problem!

North Dakota may not have a NFL team; but they do have a college team to route for. I’m talking about the NDSU Bison. Right now, they are on a winning streak. Even though, people are becoming suspicious.

We have the Green Bay Packers. I know, I’m a fudge packer, as fans of the Packers are sometimes called.

There is now 2 NFL teams that have a quarterback from NDSU that we can route for rather than keeps getting frustrated over the Vikings.

There had been other players from NDSU who went on to play in the NFL though. Phil Hanson played for the Bills, and he came from NDSU. Sure he took them to about 4 Super Bowl and couldn’t get them over the hump.

Not like Carson Wentz, who plays for the Eagles. He brought them to the playoffs in 2018; so that Nick Foley could take them over the top and win the Super Bowl. The Eagles was able to wipe the smug off Tom Brady’s face.

Every time a team can do that, I’m ecstatic.

Now this year, we have another quarterback from NDSU who is playing in the NFL. Easton Stick is playing for the LA Chargers.

The only difference, Wentz is the first string quarterback and Stick isn’t though. I’m not saying that he can’t moved up and help the Chargers make to the Super Bowl.

I don’t think that they can play each other in the Super Bowl; but they can possibly play each other in the playoffs. That will be match up to see. It will be nice to see Wentz and Stick plays up against each other; since they are both from NDSU.

Besides, the Chargers also yet to win a Super Bowl or even plays in a Super Bowl. When they were known as the San Diego Charger, they made it to the Super Bowl but never won as well.

So why keeps routing for the Vikings? Why keep putting yourself in a stressful and frustrating situation? Do you hope that maybe some days they will actually pull off the inevitable? I want to know. Be free to comment at the end of this blog. I welcome it with open arms.

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t deserve a new stadium. They didn’t deserve the taxpayers of Minnesota to pay for it. That was the biggest waste. It’s more of waste than the Wall that we need on our border between US and Mexico.

Before there was Amazon and other on-line orders, there were mail ordered catalogs. You could order about anything through these catalogs; like you can on-line. Guys could ordered a mail order bride if they wanted to.

People would take these catalogs to the outhouse to go to the bathroom.

Spiegel was such a catalog. I don’t know if they had a store or not. They had a catalog that went out around the country.

Montgomery Wards was started in the early 1900’s, give or take. They had catalogs and even had a store that you can browse through to see the products. They sold appliances as well as clothes.

I remembered as a child going in the Montgomery Ward store in Moorhead, MN with my folks. That store was on 8th st and Main ave, just behind the Dairy Queen. After going in the store, we would stop at the Dairy Queen for some ice cream.

The Dairy Queen is still there but not Montgomery Ward. I don’t know if there is any down South though.

There used to be a Woolworths around the country. They had an escalator between the two floors. At lease the one in Fargo, ND did, right on Broadway next to the railroad crossing.

They was also known for fountain; which was to them as a little café that sold ice cream soda, along with hamburgers and fries. They also were big down South. They had their shares of racial trouble though. Such as segregation of the blacks from the whites.

The Woolworths store was known also as a five and dime stores.

Do they still have any down South?

Another retail store similar to the Woolworths was Ben Franklin. Except Ben Franklin didn’t have the fountain(café). They both were the five and dime stores. Ben Franklin was mainly located in small town. They had the small town atmosphere.

The building for Woolworths is still on Broadway in Fargo because it’s a historical landmark.

Ben Franklin is one of the latest stores who is slowly disappearing from our small towns. There is no more in Fargo; and there were a few in Fargo-Moorhead.

The last time I was in a Ben Franklin store was when I was in Park Rapids, MN. It was nice little store for that small town.

There was a grocery store by the name of Piggly-wiggly. There isn’t any of them up north. There is still some down South though. They were a small town grocery store atmosphere. We would grocery shop there along with Red Owl as well. Both are not around in Fargo-Moorhead anymore.

Red Owl was bought out by Super Value; which also owned Hornbacher’s. Now Hornbacher’s is a huge store.

Whereas, Piggly-wiggly merge with Buttry-Oscal, and soon became Sunmart. Now Sunmart is known as Family Fare.

Macy was only around since 1929. They are old but they are not the oldest retail store. Macy is also struggling.

One of the latest casualty of the oldest retailers is Sears. Sears had been around as long as Montgomery Ward. They started out as a catalog. They sold practically everything in the catalog, even a bride.

At one time, they had Sears Tower in Chicago. They sold Craftman tools. They sold appliances as well as tires for automobiles. They sold farm equipment. At one time they sold good American made stuff for Midwest and across the country and world.

When we moved down to the farm, we bought our washer and dryer from Sears. They lasted a long time. That was because things were made to last; not like now. Now days things are made to buy and not last.

Sears started going downhill since the 90’s. What kept them around as they did was that they merge with Kmart. As I said in my blog, Sears is an albatross around Kmart’s neck. Sears was the reason for Kmart struggling like they are today.

There is no more Sears around; except for those that is in the Kmart stores.

Are you ready for it? Drumrolls please!! The winner is for the oldest retailers is…JC Penny.

JC. Penny started the same time as Montgomery Ward and Sears. They also started out as a catalog.

Even though they are struggling as well, they are hanging on; which is good. I like shopping at JC Penny. I always get nice clothes when I shop there. If they close that store, why would I need to go to West Acres? I prefer them over Sears. I prefer them over Macy.

There you have it folks. I named few of the oldest retailers. A lot of those stores are gone now, except for the memories. I even told you the winner, the retailers that is pretty much still around for now.

For those who didn’t already known, he was at the Fargo Dome this past Friday night; which happened to had been my birthday as well.

Marilyn Manson was born Brian Hugh Warner on January 5, 1969 in Canton, Ohio. He took the name Marilyn Manson from Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson.

I can understand stage personality to attract fans. It’s a gimmics. It’s part of entertainment. A lot of singers/performers looks for ways to entertain the audience during a live performance. They don’t just depend on their singing ability.

When he first came out, there were people who thought that he was on Wonder Years as a friend of Kevin Arnold, played by Fred Savage. That was a big rumor back then.

His style is more Gothic. Which makes him very creepy looking. Now as I mentioned in my blog, “Love affair with a vampire,” there are people into gothic.

He painted his face a pale white and wore black lipstick to make himself creepy and gothic looking.

To me, it’s just creeps me out. I’m not into his type of music.

Now I can tolerate Alice Cooper. He was normal compare to Marilyn Manson.

Alice Cooper real name was Vincent Damon Furnier. He was a son of a preacher. Alice Cooper had done some outrageous things while on stage performing. It was nothing like Marilyn Manson though.

I can even tolerate one of the greatest rock group of my time, KISS. They, too had worn makeup as part of their stage persona. They are imitated by another rock group, Hairball.

KISS was known to throw wild party inside of their hotel room and trash the place; while on the road.

That’s nature in the world of rock music. They get crazy with their antics.

I’ve heard stories about when Marilyn Manson was in Fargo the last time. He had to have a babysitter/security guard around to watch over him to make sure that he behave himself. He would get drunk and crazy. I even heard of some of his outrageous stage performances. One of the performances, he grabbed one of the security guy and pushed him down and his head into his crotch, right on stage. How discussing!!

Alice Cooper and KISS never done that.

I couldn’t work load in for his concert because of other commitment. I wouldn’t want to work load out because Marilyn Manson creeps me out. It was my birthday and having him at the Fargo Dome was not a good birthday present for me.

I mean, it would had been nice seeing the set-up for his concert. But that’s as far as I go with seeing him.

There had always been some kinds of war with the cattle industry throughout history.

During the 1800’s, when the cowboys roam the earth; some ranchers felt that their cattle should be able to roam free. Many were against building fences to keep their cattle in. So instead, they branded them, so they can tell their cattle from somebody else. Plus, people trusted others more back then.

Some cattle ranchers dislike sheep herders. So there was a feud there as well.

My step-dad had an on-going feud with a neighbor who raised goats. He didn’t like it very much that their goats would get on his property. He felt that they were contaminating the pasture land for his cattle. You see, they didn’t believe in building a fence; and they would get onto our land to graze.

Some farmers have their favorite type of cattle to raise. So there can be a little feud there as well.

Holstein was considered milking cattle. My step-dad didn’t much care for them. He said that raising Holstein is a lot more work for one. They are harder keeper. When raising Holstein, you are pretty much tied to the farm.

My step-dad preferred the Black Angus; and we raised them on the farm. They are easy keepers. They are good with their young. You don’t have to really watch them when the time came for them to give birth. Black Angus are good eating as well, because they are built stocky. They are not overly fat.

Holstein are not the best beef cattle; because they don’t put the weight on as well as the Angus. The reason, they are more for milking purpose.

Anyway, the vegans and vegetarians wants to regulate the cattle industry. They wants to tell everyone to go vegan. Don’t they know that will hurt the cattle industry? That will also hurt agriculture economy?

Years ago, Oprah got into trouble with the cattle industry down in Texas for her comment she had made against them. They sued her, and she had to retract.

Some vegans and vegetarians are very strict, for example: Paul McCartney. If any meat or meat by product touch the appliances, utensils, etc.; it has to be replace.

Cory Booker, who is running for President, wants to regulate the cattle industry. He wants to make everyone become a vegan or a vegetarian like him.

Alexandra Cortez wants to banned cow farts. She believes that it is poisoning our o-zone area.

There is a joke on u-tube, in which Cortez was drinking milk and was asked do you know where milk came from? She said, “the milk carton.”

It goes to show what she knows. Milk comes from cattle.

The reason why these vegans and vegetarians are so against eating beef or meat altogether, is because they feels that it’s not healthy for you.

I’m here to tell you. It’s not eating beef that is bad for you; it’s the chemicals that is being used around our cattle. Chemical, like Round Up is poisoned. If you wants healthy cattle, go natural! My step-dad did. He was against using any form of chemicals on his crops from the vegetables garden to growing his hay.

When it came to feeding the cattle, he fed them hay or let them eat grass. It was better for them. He never fed them corn; because corn just makes them fat. You wants them stocky but not overweight.

Last year, I wrote a blog on eat your vegetables. I have been eating more vegetables as I’m on a healthy lifestyle diet.

I don’t think that the government should tells you what to eat or not to eat. They don’t have the right to dictate. This is still a free country.

Sure, I have cut back on eating meat; but I still eat meat once in awhile. I love a good hamburger or a good steak. I don’t want the government to tells me that I shouldn’t eat meat.

I believe that a good eating steak or hamburger must be an Angus.

So Cortez or people like her, when you are drinking milk remember, milk comes from cows not just a milk carton.

It would be nice if we could get what we want all the times. I mean who wouldn’t wants to get what they want when they wants it. I mean there are things that I would love and wish I could get.

I will show why it isn’t such a good idea to always get what you wants. You wouldn’t appreciated it as much. It would be like a new toy you get for Christmas or your birthday. It’s fun to play with at first; but once the newness runs out, you’ll get bored of it.

It will create people of entitlement. Believe me, we have enough of those running around in the world today.

Let me start with the Old Testament, in Judges and 1 and 2 Samuel. The Jews wanted a king to lead them like their neighbor. God didn’t want that for His people. Not because He is a jealous God; but because He knew how they wouldn’t appreciated it.

God eventually gave in to the Jews whining and begging, and gave into their whims and wishes , to give them a king. For those who read the Bible, knows what happened afterward. King Saul turned out to be a bad selfless king, and then they got King David, and the list goes on…

Some children can manipulate their parents by having a temper tantrum just to get what they want. Parents will gives in because they don’t want to see their children unhappy. They wants to shut them up.

I remembered when I was a teenager and my nephew was having a fit because his father wouldn’t take him along with him. He threw himself down on the sidewalk in Hawley. It took my mother, his grandmother to get up and calm down. The tactic she used was buying him some ice cream inside the drugstore.

I also remembered when my mother told me that we will get a part time job at 13 years old. The job was picking berries at Granrude fruit farm. It wasn’t that we had to get out and work. It was to teach us the value of hard work and the value of money. By earning our own money, we could help buy our school clothes and anything else that we may want. So you see I have been working pretty much since I was 13 years old. I come to appreciate the lesson from that. At that time I didn’t, and really didn’t appreciate the idea of getting a JOB.

If the kids of Sam Walton was made to work their way up at Wal-Mart; maybe they would take better care of their employees.

Some of these young Leftist like Cortez for example, if they had to get out and work at an early age, maybe they wouldn’t be the way they are today. They wants to offer everybody free money. Because they don’t understand the value of money and hard work.

If I had kids, I wouldn’t buy them cell phone. I would make them work for it once they become old enough to do so. They would appreciate it more.

When a child is given everything they want just by having a temper tantrum, the thing that they learn is that they can get anything they want if they just cry and make a scene.

Life is not that way. Sometimes you just got to work for what you want.

I know work is a dirty word to some people.

I have more respect to parents who laid down the law before entering the store and tells their children that they will not get what they want; even if they have a temper tantrum. I lose respect to parents who gives in to their children temper tantrum.

Sometimes that happens just to teach us a lesson. Like when God will gives in to our temper tantrum to teach us. It can be use as a learning tool. See, I warn you about why you really don’t need that. It can teach us to have patient. It can teach us to have compassion and not to get too big for our britches. It can teach us to be more appreciative when we finally do get what we want.

Through the years of working for a living, when the time came that I came into an inheritance, I appreciated it even more. I made sound wise decisions for my future. I invested part of my inheritance.

I’m not saying that we shouldn’t buy our kids gifts. I’m just saying parents must not give in to their temper tantrum.

Even some older kids feels that they are entitled to more because they are the oldest. It had been like that through the ages, even in the Bible.

Some only child will feels that they entitled to things.

I was an only child until I was 6 years old. Whenever I wanted something, all I did was point to it and my grandmother would give it to me. My mother was upset at her because she did that.

So as a child, I never got everything that I wanted. Am I jealous of the other kids who did. Maybe a little! It did helped me appreciate the things I got when I was able to get it myself down the road. It taught me the value of hard work and the value of money. I came to appreciate my inheritance. I even bought myself a nice bed out of it.

I would love to have that free money that these Leftist is offering, and who wouldn’t. What will that teach us? It will teach us nothing.

This is a good question that is probably on a lot people minds.

I may be jumping around; but I hope to give you some good examples to help you decide.

First, let me start with, earlier this year, Governor Doug Burgum sign a bill allowing business to open earlier on Sunday; thus overturning the Blue Law.

Now North Dakota was the last state in the union have businesses to be open on Sunday. At first, they had to wait until noon to open up. Now either August or September, businesses can open up earlier on Sunday.

As I wrote in my blog, “Never on a Sunday,” I wrote the pros and cons about Sunday opening.

From a business point of view, I can understand the reason for being open on a Sunday. It helped a lot of businesses in Fargo; once they were able to be open on Sunday. It did hurt Moorhead though, because they didn’t prepare for it.

On the downside of it, it hurts family time. It allowed businesses to hire more part time help. By having only part time help, business owner didn’t have to pay out benefits. They can earn more of a profit.

Is that moving forward or greed?

I believe in a Capitalist society. I believe in making money the old fashion way, by working for it. That’s the American dream!

Another example is downtown Fargo. I have to admit; since they are finally fixing up downtown, it looks nice. It’s just too expensive for the average Joe to live and shop downtown. It seems that they are turning Fargo into a bigger Metropolitan.

I’m not a big fan of that.

Fargo had the small town atmosphere that I miss. Crimes is up downtown. The way Fargo is becoming; it makes me miss the old farm that I grew up on. Where everything was peaceful. I would like to retire some place reclusive. I take the country over big metropolitan city. You can have Chicago!

Is that moving forward or greed?

Prosperity is just around the corner. Since Trump took office, things been looking up for America. The stock market been doing very good. There is more job prospects. It goes so that it takes a businessman to be President; because they know what is best.

Since Trump took office, even my investment been doing good. I have a better paying job with benefits. My future looks bright. I’m actually looking forward to retirement. The reason: I feel that I will be able to retire when I become 65. I have to admit, I didn’t always felt that way. I felt that I could end up working until I died.

Am I moving forward or am I greedy person?

I just want my share of the pie.

How about you? Do you want your share of the pie? Are you willing to move forward to get it? Does that make us greedy?

We must not look back but to learn from our history. Keep both hands on the wheel and keep moving forward. It’s time that we leave the past behind. We all have a past that we may not be proud of.

Are you sitting on your duff and doing nothing or are you going to get off your lazy ass and make something of yourself; by moving forward? You got to have the get-up and go to be able to move forward. Sometimes, you got to make up your mind and just do it.

If I didn’t start the ball rolling over a year ago, I probably would had still been in sinking ship at Kmart. I surprise everyone there when I actually quit.

When I heard that there is a possibility of making money with my blog, and also being able to share my opinion and thoughts; believe me I took the bull by the horn. It may a slow start right now; but you got to start somewhere.

I have been told that I do have the umption to be a go-getter. Sometimes, we just need a little push.

I remembered in my Senior year in high school. I made up my mind to get more involved with school activity; even though my mother worked night and my step-dad was very old-fashioned and strict.

So it goes to show that I’m a go-getter; if I want something bad enough.

So you tell me, is it moving forward or greed?

As you probably had heard, Ross Perot had passed away this past week. He was 89 years old.

He was old when he ran for President back in 1992. It could had been because I was young and to the young people anyone older than them are old.

Ross Perot was a businessman like Donald Trump. He was just ahead of his time.

The news media was very harsh on him. They made him look like he was crazy as a fox.

No one took him seriously. Yet, some of the stuff he had said actually came true.

Think about it: how many young people takes the elderly seriously? They think that they are off their rocker.

Anyway, when Ross Perot ran for President in 1992; he was thorn in the first George Bush’s side. Because of him running for President, the Conservative votes of the Republican party was divided. That was why Bill Clinton was elected President. He was the lesser of 3 evils.

I was a young Republican at the time and wasn’t about to divide the party. So I voted for the first George Bush. I voted for him in 1988, since he was Vice-President under Ronald Reagan, the greatest Republican President; and the reason why I became a Republican in the first place.

I voted for the first George Bush in 1992 because I felt that he had proven himself as President. I also was still a new Republican.

I never wanted his sons, George W. or Jeb Bush.

You think that the media was hard on Pres. Trump? Well they were just as hard on Ross Perot. He never stood a chance against the media. He also ran as an Independent. At that time, the country wasn’t ready for a third party candidate.

The older I had became, the more I started hating the Establishment in Washington. I believe that I’m not alone too. I mean, how else could you explain, Donald Trump.

He isn’t your everyday career politician. He was a businessman first. He stood up to the mainstream and social media. He called them fake news. Some may think that he doesn’t respect reporters. You can’t respect reporters if they don’t respect anybody. I like Trump because he tells it like it is.

He just happens to came at the right time. When the American people had enough with our government. Whereas Ross Perot was just a little ahead of his time.

In 1992, the American people wasn’t ready for the change we are going through now. I mean, first of all, President Reagan offered the similar change when he was President. Reagan wasn’t part of the Establishment either. He had faced opposition from both parties and the news media as well. Even the first George Bush was nothing like Reagan. Reagan gave us a taste; but we weren’t ready for it.

There was probably others before Perot who fought against the Establishment. Just like there was others after Perot.

The tea party was formed under George W. Bush, to shape up the Republicans.

Herman Cain, the CEO from Dominos ran for President in 2012. The media was tough on him as well.

When Donald Trump came along, we were ready for a change. He may had been harsh; but we needed someone like him to stand up against the critics.

You may think that I’m harsh. I don’t apologized for that either.

Change is not ever easy. The baby boomers and older; even some of us Generation X, are not as easily into change. We have to give credit the Millennials. Instead of being harsh on them and calling them unstable. We should thanks them for showing us that change isn’t as hard as we thought possible.

I apologized for not being able to write another blog. The last one that I had written was back on Memorial Day weekend. That blog was titled, “Dying Alone.”

It wasn’t because I was busy or had writer block. Believe me, I was never short on ideas for a blog.

The reason, I wasn’t able to write another blog was because of technical trouble on the part of WordPress.

You can thanks WordPress for me not being able to write another blog for over a month. It took them this long to fix the problem. All the while they was giving me the run around.

So if you want to be freed to let them know how upset my loyal readers are at them.

If you think that they should reimburse me for not being able to post another blog, let them know that as well.

Believe me, when I couldn’t post another blog, I thought that maybe I had offended the wrong group of people. I thought maybe those people had shut me down because they were offended to what I had to say.

Like in the book, “1984”, the lead character was censored by big brother. I mean, there is more and more censorship now days than ever before. Those who are conservatives are being censored by the mainstream fake news media and other social media as well.

There’s a blog I had written at another site that may had gotten lost in the internet space. That blog was called, “At War with the Cattle Industry.” It was in favor of eating steak and hamburgers and writing against those vegans out there. I may rewrite that blog in the future.

I’m keeping this one short but I felt that I should apologize for you not being able to read any new blogs from me.

I will be writing another blog tonight after I post this one. That blog will be on Ross Perot. So you see, I’m not short on ideas. Thanks for waiting patiently for my blog site to get back up and running. I miss writing another blog like you probably miss reading them.

First, let me begin with Happy Memorial Day!

Not only is this the start of the summer; it’s also a time we remembered those who fought and died for our freedom. We also remembered our loved ones who had passed away.

Now let’s get to the real reason for this blog.

This past winter, there were 2 different cars found at 2 different parking lot. One was at Hornbacher’s and the other was at Cash Wise. The cars were buried in a snowbank. Inside the cars were 2 different people found dead inside. They had been dead for a long time too.

I have one question though. How can people not noticed these cars in the parking lot? Wouldn’t people become suspicious and want to check it out?

I mean, when I worked at Kmart and went out to get shopping carts; if I happened to noticed a stranded car in the parking lot for more than two to three days, I would report it to the manager or the customers service desk. That’s the proper things to do.

Why didn’t the employees at Cash Wise and Hornbacher’s do the same?

It seems like more and more people are happening being found dead alone. Either in their cars, their home, or wherever.

I remembered walking downtown Broadway and walking past a woman sitting dead on the bench. The cop was there and called ahead to have the body removed. There was even another guy there, and like an idiot, he somehow must thought that she was sleeping and was checking to see if she was breathing. I knew that she was dead when I was walking by. You can easily tell if a person is dead or not.

I mean, it creeps a person out seeing a dead person like that. Just like this blog might creeps some of you out.

I think the reason why more people are being found dead alone are for 2 reasons.

For one, no one wants to go into a nursing home; anymore than they wants to go into the hospital.

Some of the elderly in the nursing homes are put there by their kids and abandoned. Either because the adults kids don’t want to be bother with their elderly parents or cannot take care of them, themselves.

Another reason why people doesn’t want to go into a nursing home: is because of the high cost.

Our nursing home and health cares is expensive. Not everyone will just die. Some will needs round the clock care until they die.

Years ago, people had big family in hoping that their kids will take care of them in their old age. Sometimes, three generations will live in one home. This didn’t just happened in this country. It’s also happened in other countries as well.

Of course, some of these elderly didn’t have kids or their kids aren’t close by. Some of the adult kids don’t or can’t deal with their aging parents.

I know that my step-dad wanted to go back home to the farm to die; but us kids felt that it was better that he stayed in the VA. At least he would get the care he needed until his time on earth was up.

I had this friend from church who was found dead in his home. He was in his 70’s and toward the end he never really answered his phone. He was a bachelor. He wanted to be buried but since his body was decomposing, he had to be cremated.

It also reminded me back when I was a teenager on the farm. There was an elderly gentleman who lived up the hill from our farm. He had his mailbox next to ours. Anyway, one winter, he was found dead in his home frozen. He may had a heart attack or fallen; so he wasn’t able to get the heat he needed.

Those who were found dead are in a better place. They have no more pain. Still, it makes a person sick to their stomach and filled with grief.

I wish I would had thought of it before this friend of mine(Wes) was found dead. When I couldn’t get a hold of him, I should had called the police and had them do a welfare check on him. His hearing wasn’t very good, and toward the end he wasn’t much in answering his cell phone and made excuses for not hearing it.

If you know anyone who lives alone and you happened not see them around for a long time or whatever other reasons; check up on them. Even if you have to do a welfare check on them. I don’t think that the police would mine doing that for you.

Living in an apartment is easier to check in on someone than in a house; because, a person will easily noticed something wrong.

As I said in last week blog, a mother will always make sacrifices for her children. Good parents will always wants what’s best for their kids. They will make sacrifices for them. My question is how much is too much though?

For example: my folks would rather make sure us kids had plenty than treat themselves to a fancy dinner out. There are parents who would go out for a nice fancy meal; while their kids sit at home eating scraps.

If you have heard the news as of lately, you would had heard about how some of the 1% group were caught bribing college administration to get their kids into a good college. Now is that too much to do; so that your kids can have a better life? I’d say it is. Not everybody can afford to bribe college administration.

Two of these 1% people are celebrity. First of all Felicity Huffman, one of the star of Desperate Housewife and married to William H. Macy. When I heard that she was one of the person charged with bribing college administration, I was surprised. She is one of the Leftist Hollywood darling. Her husband, William H. Macy wasn’t charge though. She did the right thing and pledge guilty though.

Another Actress was Lori Loughlin, that was also charge. She was known as the darling of Lifetime movies. She was also in Full House and she started on daytime soap, “The Edge of Night.”

This is just a little background of 2 of those charged.

Lori Loughlin even said for her reason was that she wants her kids to have a better shot than she had. What parents doesn’t want the best for their kids? There is nothing wrong with wanting the best for your kids. But her and her husband took it too far.

As I said in last week blog, my mother wanted me to be a lawyer. Yet she wouldn’t and couldn’t do what these 1% people had done. I mean, my family wasn’t rich.

I had my first job when I was 13 years old, picking berries at Granrude fruit farm. We didn’t really had to work but it taught us the value of money and hard work. When I was 14 and in the 8th grade, I gave up my study hall to work in the school cafeteria. I have been working pretty much ever since.

Some of the members of the Country Club get their kids a job at the Country Club because they are members. That is not right! They should have to struggle to get a job like anyone else.

As I mentioned in the blog about Ed Shultz, it had been known but not proven, that he may had paid off the coach at Fargo South for his son, David could get a lead position on a football team.

If parents give their children anything they wants, what do they learn?

Like the saying goes, “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.”

By giving your children what they want, you create what we have today; and that kids who are part of the entitlement group. They come to expect things because of who they are and who their parents are.

Now if teenagers started work early in their teens; they learn to appreciate things more. They learn the value of hard work and money. They will learn that money doesn’t grow on trees.

If parents keep on giving their kids everything, how will they cope when their parents are gone?

Another example is Sam Walton and Wal-Mart. Sam Walton took better care of the employees because he started Wal-Mart from the grounds up. Now his kids on the other hands, was given everything; so they don’t treat the employees as well as Sam Walton did. I believe that they should had started at the bottom of the company, to learn how the company is run and to learn the meaning of hard work as well.

Since I had worked ever since I was 13 years old, I had learn the value of money and of hard work. Hard work doesn’t hurt anyone! So when my folks died, and I received an inheritance, I appreciated it much more. It’s not that I became rich because of it. I learned the value of money and so I learned that I needed to put some away as investment for my retirement. I was able to make wise decision because of what I was taught; and given everything I wanted.

Believe me, I would love to been given more than what I was growing up; but what would that had done?

The courts should throw the book at those who bribed the college administration. They didn’t teach their children anything, but how to know that they can get anything they want without even breaking a sweat.
