What are You afraid of?

Fear and worry are interest paid in advance on something you may never own.

Is fear and worry keeping you from getting what you want or desire? What is keeping you from reaching your goal?

FEAR: is a fundamental, evolutionary survival mechanism triggered by an unpleasant emotional response to a perceived threat, danger, or pain.

PHOBIAS: is an exaggerate, irrational, and persistent fear or aversion to a specific object, activity, situation, or person. There are many different kinds of phobias that can keep people from getting what they want. The biggest fear is being afraid of the dark, flying, high places, or even failure, Some people are so afraid of failing that they refused to take chances. Some people will never take the leap of faith. They play it conservatively and refuse to take a risk.

Taking a risk is scary. I don’t care what the risk may be. Making an investment is risky. Falling in love is risky. Following God can be risky as well.

When Peter woke up and saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat, Peter took a chance and step out of the boat to walk to Jesus. But when, Peter looked down instead of forward, he started sinking. In Matthew 14:31, “Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Are you like Peter? You start out good but the moment something bad starts to happened, you become fearful.

WORRY: to feel or cause anxiety, or dwell on potential problems and unpleasant outcomes.

What cause you to worry? Do you worry that no one will ever love you? Do you worry about money? Do you worry about the future?

Fear is a poor chisel to carve out tomorrow. Worry is simply the triumph of fear over faith.

If tomorrow never comes, do you lie awake wondering? Do you doubt?

Remember, God is still the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He promised to never leave nor forsake you.

People can get so worked up and stressed out over worrying. They become overwhelmed. The stressed overcome them and it began to shows on them. They become tired. They even lose faith. They even succumb to all kinds of illnesses from migraines, cancer, and heart disease.

There is an old Swedish proverb that says, “Worry gives a small thing a big shadow.” Worry is simply the misuse of God’s creative imagination which He has placed within each of us. When fear rises in our mind, we should learn to expect the opposite in our life.

To worry is to strangle or choke off what God has in stored for you.

As I heard this summer, God has a story for each and everyone of us. His story isn’t finished yet. He’s still working on our story, whatever it may be.

As we dwell on and worry about matters beyond our control, a negative effect begins to set in. Worry is a route which leads from somewhere to nowhere. Don’t let it direct your life.

As my mother would say, “why worry about tomorrow?

Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Don’t let fear and worry keep you from taking a leap of faith.

In Psalm 55: 22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”

DON’T WORRY AND DON’T FEAR!! This is easy said than done. We all tend to worry and become fearful.
