After taking a summer off from this series that I started in the Spring. This next blog in the series is on the 10 Commandments, with reference to the 9th commandment.

Do you know the 10 Commandments?

The are God’s law handed down to us and the Jews when Moses came down from Mount Sinai. These are not suggestions but laws that we should actually obey. If you obey these laws, all the other laws will come easy to follow.

At one time, the 10 commandments were posted in the classrooms in our schools. At one time, the 10 Commandments was posted in the courtroom as well. There’s still a monument of the 10 Commandments standing outside the Fargo Public Library; but for how long before the Left have it taken down.

If we still had the 10 Commandments in our schools instead of what they have now, we wouldn’t have the crimes we have right now. People used to respect one another and accept their political views. People knew their neighbors and respected them. As in a small town, people take care of their own. If they would teach the 10 Commandments once again in our schools, crimes rates will come down. There would be less people in prison.

I was taught the 10 Commandments growing up as well as in Catechism and Confirmation class. We had to memorize the 10 Commandments before we were confirmed.

To help remember the 10 Commandments, think about this old song by Tex Ritter. The song was called, “Deck of Cards.” in the song, there was a group of soldiers on a long hike. They came to a town called, Cassino. They went to church on Sunday morning. One boy only had a deck of cards. He spread it out. When brought in front of the Marshall, he explained that the cards were his Bible.

You can find the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20. The first half of the 10 Commandments was about honoring God. The last half about respecting others.

In Exodus 20:2, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out Egypt, out of the land of slavery. In verse 3, “You shall have no other gods before me. In verse 4, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. In verse 5, “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.” In verse 6, “But showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” In verse 7, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” In verse 8, “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.” In verse 9, ” 6 days you shall labor and do all your work.” In verse 10, “but the seventh day is the Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your servants, animals, or alien within your gates.” In verse 11, “For in 6 days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”

People have been making idols for themselves ever since. They have been putting money and jobs over God, the church and family. This has been the downfall of the world today.

In verse 12, “Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land of the Lord your God is giving you.”

This commandment can be the hardest one to keep. For anyone who were raised in a dysfunctional family of abuse, you may find it difficult to keep.

In verse 13, “You shall not murder.” You commit murder not just by your actions but by your words as well and by hating others. You commit murder when you have an abortion.

In verse 14, “You shall not commit adultery.” No one stay married for a long time anymore. Now days, people goes through partners like changing underwear.

In verse 15, “You shall not steal.” In verse 16, “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.” Yet there are people who would steal your identity make false testimony against you because they don’t like your viewpoints. They will falsely accused you without getting the facts If confronted with the truth, they don’t want to hear it.

The last commandment can be one of the hardest commandment to keep. In verse 17, you shall not covet; which means to have a strong, wrongful, and selfish desire for something that belongs to another person. Yet there are those who wants what you have but don’t want to work for it. Those on the Left is promoting that with Socialism.

We are told not to lie. Yet, lying comes easier in the world today. Our politicians, news media, weatherman, lawyers, and doctors lie more and more. People lie to their spouse or significant others. Hope built on a lie is always the beginning of loss. Never attempt to build anything on a foundation of lies and half truths. People seems to prefer if you lie to them rather than tell them the truth. They are offended by the truth.

Remember, lying will always distort God’s guidance in your life. Lying becomes a very easy habit. The fact is that a person who allows himself to lie once will find it much easier to do so a second time. Always tell the truth, and you will never have to remember what you said. Like Pinocchio, the more lies he told, the more his nose had grown. Bill Clinton didn’t necessarily lied when he said he didn’t have sex with Monica. It was only half truth. To him, since there was no sexual intercourse, he didn’t had sex.

In Proverbs 12:22, “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord.” In Proverbs 19:9, “A false witness shall not be unpunished.”

The seven results for lying are: 1.) you will attract other liars. 2.) you will have a lack of understanding. 3.) you will never enjoy permanent results. 4.) you will end up in bondage. 5.) you will be punished. 6.) you will become a fool. And 7.) your lies will come back to haunt you. White lies will grow up to become a big fat lies.

As Luke Bryan sang, it’s not easy to keep these commandments. We tend to break some rules and commandments.

There is a reason why you swear on a Bible when you take an oath in office or in court. Yet, Zohran Mamdani, the Socialist mayor of New York City chose not to swear on a Bible when he was sworn in as mayor of New York City.

If they just bring back the Bible and the 10 Commandments in our schools, it will take the violence out of our schools. Crime rates will come down, there will be less people in prison. I rather see the Bible and the 10 Commandments in our schools rather than teachers promoting gender mutation of our kids.

Then and only then can we actually have a revival in our land. The best is yet to come!
