Hanoi Jane was a nickname given to Jane Fonda due to her controversial 1972 visit to North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. She was an outspoken anti-war activist, who traveled to the enemy capital to participated in anti-war radio broadcasts, and was famously photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft.
During the Vietnam War, there was many protest against the war in Vietnam. The protest was mild compared to today, those on the Left protesting against President Trump. It seems that they have gone to the extreme. I was a child during the time of the Vietnam War. I had cousins who fought in the war, and one was killed in 1968. I was a toddler and I never knew him, or knew if he had a chance to see me before he left for Vietnam.
While in high school, I wasn’t taught much about the Vietnam War. The only thing that I was taught was the protest of the war here in America. I don’t know if it was because it was too relatively new or what the reason.
The reason for the Vietnam War was to halt the spread of Communism during the Cold War. It was driven by the “DOMINAL THEORY,” American leaders feared that if one Southeast Asia nation fell to Communism, neighboring countries would inevitably follow, ultimately threatening global U.S. security.
Now Jane Fonda is a daughter of legendary actor Henry Fonda. He was a Conservative Republican; yet both of his kids were bleeding heart Liberals, both Jane and her brother, Peter Fonda. Jane Fonda recently stated that her father taught her the core values of standing up for the underdog, protecting the vulnerable, and fighting for fairness. She noted that witnessing him portray characters with these same values directly inspired her lifelong commitment to activism.
I can understand that from seeing old Henry Fonda’s movies. Henry Fonda wasn’t happy and was highly critical of Jane Fonda’s anti-war protests. Henry Fonda was a proud World War 11 veteran and a deeply patriotic American. When Jane first began her anti-was activism and traveled to North Vietnam in 1972, he was deeply distressed. He dismissed her actions as foolish and considered her behavior frivolous. Henry Fonda’s last movie he made and won an Oscar for was “On Golden Pond.” He co-starred with his daughter, Jane and Katherine Hepburn. You could say that movie was an autobiography of their relationship. There was a lot of similarities with that movie and their real life relationship.
Jane Fonda was married to mogul Ted Turner from December 21, 1991; which lasted for about 10 years. The reason for their divorce was because of his constant infidelity and because she felt she had to hide her authentic self. She claimed to be a born again Christian.
I don’t mean to come across as self-righteous. Only God knows the truth if Jane Fonda had come to accepted the Lord or not. I just wondered if she actually read her Bible and really knows what it says. Some of things that she stands up for, the Bible condemns.
Then again, when you looked at how people protested against the Vietnam War, since it was a war against Communism. It seems that those on the Left, Jane Fonda included are embracing Communism and Socialism. So you see the nickname “Hanoi Jane,” suits Jane Fonda today. They claim to be a party for the Feminist movement; but yet they stand up for countries that’s against giving women freedom. They claim to be a party for the LGBTQIA yet they support the Communist movement who stands against what they believe in. Don’t they truly understand what they are getting into? Have they really thought things through or they just truly hate America?
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate people standing up for what they believe in. This is America and we have that freedom to do. We live in a nation where we are free to disagree or agree.
