For those who grew up in the era before cell phones, did you hate it when telemarketer would call you as you’re sitting down eating supper? It seems that they would always called around suppertime like clockwork. My step-dad would constantly complained about that as we would sit down to eat supper.
Whenever the neighbors wanted dad to fixed their equipment, they would either call or come over just as we’re sitting down for a meal. My step-dad would complained about that, and my mother would offer them something to eat or drink.
Is there times that you just want to be left alone in peace and quiet?
Remembered, even Jesus Christ wanted a little alone time. After feeding the multitudes and teaching them, He would send His disciples out; so that he could just be alone to pray and talked to the Father.
I know after work, I just want to be left alone without any distractions. I would choose to either watched a little television or just be on my smartphone looking at You tube or Tick Tock. While on the bus going to my destination after work, I would be checking my Facebook on my phone and playing word puzzles, just to pass the time. Sometimes, I just want to avoid people on the bus and to be left alone.
It seems people are crazier later in the day. More normal people would ride the bus in the morning. On my day off from work, I would rather take care of my business earlier in the day; so that I can be home before the crazies are out.
Some may that I’m anti-social by wanting to be left alone. Some may even say, how can I minister to others if I choose to be left alone.
I can understand why my dad hated going to Fargo. He would rather stayed on the farm. I can even understand why some pastors who would love to go to the mountains just to get away and alone with God.
It seems the older I get, the more I prefer being left alone in peace and quiet. I don’t want to hear any screaming or even someone who talked with their outside voice while inside. They cannot seems to understand that I just want a little peace and quiet.
Whenever I say something about them talking in a loud voice, I’m the bad guy. I’m rude and such. If anyone is rude it’s those who choose to talked very loud when they don’t have to. I don’t know if it’s their culture or just the way they are.
As I said in a previous blog, “Jesus leads me beside still water.” I enjoyed being at Lake Geneva because it’s so relaxing and refreshing. I even prefer small town over big cities.
As Merle Haggard sang in “Big City,” I’m tired of this dirty old city. Entirely too much work and never enough play. I’m tired of these dirty old sidewalks. Turn me loose, set me free somewhere in the middle of Montana.
I can even understand what John Denver would say how a person can get a natural high with Rocky Mountain High.
Some may prefer being at a beach, just give me a cabin in the woods. A country boy can survive, country folks can survive. I can plow a field, catch fish, grow my own vegetables.
I know people who love being in the cities. I just shake my head, feeling sorry for them.
Some people may sees me as being anti-social because I choose to be in my alone quiet time. I know when I get my apartment in the Seinor Housing, I wouldn’t be doing much mingling with the other residence.
I may be an extrovert to some; but the older I get, I become more of an introvert. When I was younger, I was a party animal; but as crazy the world is getting, I prefer my alone time.
So if you see me on my smartphone or not hanging out with people, it’s not that I’m anti-social. I just prefer to be left alone. If you don’t hear anything from me in days than you can do a welfare check to see if I’m still alive.
Are you like me and would rather just be left alone? Do you enjoy the peace and quiet or do you prefer the craziness of big city? What do you prefer big cities or small town? Would you rather go to the beach with a crowd of people or a cabin in the woods? Do you just want to tell some people to shut the fuck up? I want to hear from you in the comment below.
