Do you ever wonder why it seems like God speaking in riddle? I may not have the answer to that question; but we’ll explore it together.
First of all, let us take a look at the Book of Job. In the Book of Job, God and Satan sat together discussing Job. Why would God sit and talk with the devil about His servant Job or anyone else in that matter?
Now Job was a Righteous man. Satan thought, if, Job was to lose everything he had would he still be faithful to God? Why would God even take the devil up on his offer to allow Satan to put Job through the hell?
You could say that the Book of Job is a riddle to those who doesn’t understand what God is thinking. It’s a book on trusting God, as Job was a prime example.
God promised Abraham to make him a father of all nation. Why would God asked Abraham to sacrificed his son, Isaac then?
Would any parents sacrifice their children? I don’t think so. It’s tough enough for any parents to have to bury their children. They expect their children to outlive them; so that they can take care of the parents in their old age. It doesn’t matter if the child is a baby, a child or even an adult, it’s difficult on the parents to have to bury their child.
Sometimes, God will used certain people to get our attention. I remembered back in the ’90’s when I was feeling sorry for myself. God used the Mormons (The Latter Day Saints) by having them knocked on my apartment door. That night, the Lord woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to get up and pray for your pastor. I pleaded with the Lord saying, “can’t I just lay in bed to pray?” The Lord wouldn’t let me sleep until I got up to pray. The Lord even told me to stop feeling sorry for myself and pray for my pastor.
Sometimes, God will tells you to pray for someone but won’t tell you why. The next time I saw my pastor, I asked what was going on then that the Lord asked me to get up to pray for my pastor. It may not be any certain reason but to get out attention.
Sometimes, the Lord will put us into a situation where we may be tempted. Why would God do that? Is He trying to help us overcome temptation? Is He sending a message to us? Like the Apostle Paul, when he talks about the thorn in his side. Paul asked several times for the Lord to remove that thorn with no avail. That thorn serves as a reminder at what God can do with us frailty and all.
Some people, the Lord will send to witness in a bar or get someone who is in a bar to help that person along. I heard of preachers going into a bar to pick up someone who needed help. Some people in the church would frown on that and forced the Pastor to resign because they were self-righteous in their thinking. They didn’t want to see that the Lord had the preacher go into the bar to witness.
The kind of relationships I had been involved in, would consist of me wanting to take care of someone. It was more of a toxic relationship, not a healthy one. Why would God do that? Why would He put me in a situation where I would be tempted?
Most recently, I was involved in such a relationship. There was a young man named Joey. He was 18 at the time; now he’s 19. He opened my eyes to people like him. He would dressed up in woman’s clothes and was gay. He came up to me first to get to know me. When he told me, his life story of being abused by his parents. I took pity on him and took him under my wings to be there for him. I ended up becoming attached to him in the process though.
Why would God put me in that situation?
Some people may wondered why Donald Trump has so many supporters especially with Christians. After the attempt on his life, there was a meme that looks like an angel was watching over Donald Trump preventing him from being assassinated. I mean, he is no saint by no mean. He’s not perfect.
Maybe the best way to explain why it seems that God favored Trump is to take a look at King David. King David was a man after God’s own heart. Yet, he had committed the sin of adultery with Batheba.
In other words, God will choose the most unlikely person to get our attention, no matter what the situation may be.
Whenever you know God is calling you to do something, be confident that He will guide the process, even if a successful outcome is hard to imagine. He will get you to where He wants you to go.
The theme to this for us is to trust and obey. We may not know the reason for what God want from us. It may seems that He is speaking in riddles to us and we may not understand the reason for it. We may even say, “Why me, Lord?”
In the case of the young man,Joey, that I mentioned earlier, I wouldn’t want to miss a thing. Even though, I had grown attached and had a fondness of him. It was an opportunity I’m glad that i didn’t passed up. If I would had passed up that opportunity, I would had missed any opportunity the Lord had for me.
Some may say that I shouldn’t had taken the time to get to know Joey. It will only leads to temptation. When God speaks to us, we should listen, trust and obey. We may not know the outcomes. In a noisy world, sometimes, God has to do whatever it takes to get our attention. From a loud voice, a whisper, or even speak in riddles.
We may not get the answers to what the Lord is trying to tell us to why it seems that He is speaking in riddles at that time. We can seek sound advice from someone we respect in the church or the pastor. Like when Samuel heard God’s voice speaking to him, at first he he thought that it was Eli calling out to him. Like Eli told Samuel, the next time you hear God’s voice speaking to you and you don’t know who it is; just say, “Speak Lord, for your servant is listening!”
We may not get the answer to why God is putting us in a certain situation here on earth at that time. We may have to wait until we get to heaven and see Jesus face to face. Then we can asked what God was saying to us at that time
Just trust and obey the Lord and He will see us through anything.
