Addiction runs rampant in my family from alcohol to overeating. There is some members in my family who also has a gambling addiction as well. My grandfather was an alcoholic and he had passed that addiction down to his children and grandchildren. My mother had a gambling addiction and because of that addiction, she had a huge credit card bill before she passed away. A prime example of what the addiction of alcohol though goes to my Uncle Frank. Not only was he an alcoholic, he also had a gambling addict as well. He passed that down to his children as well. Some of them got into drugs as well. Out of his children, 2 of them are doing better despite of the situation. One turned out to be a homosexual, because he was starving for affection that he never gotten growing up. He made more money when he retired but because of his addiction to such things as alcohol and gambling he didn’t had as much as my other uncle, who was lucky not to have that addiction. That uncle made a wise decision to invest and ended up doing better when he retired.
My family tends to be overweight because of our addiction to food.
Some people are sex addict. They either think about sex or constantly got to have it. Usually this addiction comes about because of sexual abuse that happened to them as a child.
Some people are workaholic as well. They put themselves into their work to avoid not have to focus on their issues.
Any forms of addictions will keep a person from dealing with their issues by avoiding it completely. A person can be addicted to overspending as well. They have a tough time in saving for a raining day.
It’s weird, but when I was in school, I didn’t much care for reading; but now I find myself addicted to buying books to read. The books I buy, I used as a guise to get further ideas for my blog. I have ordered lots of books on line through Amazon.
I’m not an alcoholic but I have a tendency to become one because of the addiction gene. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a drink once in a while. I also tend to overeat; even though since I have changed my diet I’m doing a little better at that.
I have suffered with depression as a child due to the fact that I was sexually molested as a child. I had got hooked on aspirin to cover up the pain of the my abuse. That’s what addiction would do; it would help cover up the pain a person may be going through.
