It’s that time of year again!! There’s snow on the ground and Christmas lights are up and for all to see. Christmas Day is 2 days away on the 25th of this month. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Are you ready for Christmas?
If you’re a last minute shopper, you have no one to blame but yourself for procrastinating. You had since November 1st to get your Christmas shopping done, gifts bought and wrapped.
Growing up, my step-dad would wait until the day before Christmas Eve to get the Christmas tree. We then would decorate the tree with all the pretty Christmas lights and decorations; not just on the tree either.
Eventually, my mother grew tired of fighting with him to go and get the tree; so she ended up buying an artificial tree.
This time of year the stores and restaurants are extremely busy with shoppers. People just goes nuts for Christmas. They even would maxed out their credit cards in shopping for the perfect gift for someone.
The stores and homes are beautifully decorated all out for Christmas. It’s one of the beautiful sites to see this time of year at night while taking a drive to look at all the pretty Christmas decorations and lights.
It could be romantic if a guy take his girlfriend or wife out for a sleigh ride. Make you sure you have a cup of hot chocolate to sip on and warm up your hands as well. Some men may use this time to propose to their girlfriend; because it’s very romantic, sitting in the sleigh with your sweetie looking at Christmas lights as she is snuggling up close to you to keep warm.
As the song, “Let it Snow,”goes Oh the weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful and since we’ve no place to go let it Snow, let it snow, let is snow.
There are carolers on practically every street corners singing Christmas songs wishing everyone Merry Christmas.
You even see the bell ringer from Salvation Army ringing the bells in front of the stores. Some stores will let them be inside where it’s warm; but most stores have them standing outside in the cold. Some of them are dressed as Santa Clause.
Speaking of Santa, he is dressed in red suit and have a white beard. Here comes Santa Clause, right down Santa Clause lane.
Santa Clause is coming to town. He got a list and checking twice to see who has been naughty or nice. So be nice for goodness sake.
My mother’s favorite Christmas song was “I saw Mommy kissing Santa Clause.” She would always sing that song. Her sister, Aunt Rosella love the song, “Grandma got run over by a reindeer”
This time of year is also a time that we would gained a lot of weights because of all the good Christmas cookies. There’s lots of baking going on this time of year. I sure do like those Christmas cookies, baby. They are a special treat, the more she bakes, the more I eat.
Not only do people decorate their homes for Christmas, there are some who send outs Christmas cards. Some cards will have a long letter stating how their their year went. But with e-mails prominent, there are less cards going out.
Families will get together this time of year as well. Probably not much this year when a person would watch YouTube and/or Twitter seeing some of the crazy people upset since the election.
My mother was big on get-together for Christmas. When she cooked, there was always a feast. if you go hungry, it’s your own damn fault. My folks are gone now, but the memories still linger in our minds. This can be a depressing time because of loves being no longer with us.
That’s probably the only good things about being in the cities during Christmas. As you are out and about this Christmas looking at all the pretty decorations, take time to reflect on the marvel and beauty of the seasons. Put a little joy and Christmas spirit in your heart. Then you’ll see how people just go nuts for Christmas.
Merry Christmas from the family one for all, I wish you a Merry Christmas!!
