Make America Healthy Again

We are now entering the holidays seasons. The time of year when people have a tendency to over eat and maybe even eat unhealthy. Usually between Halloween and New Years,we have the tendency to overeat and wondered why we gain weight and/or is unhealthy.

The reasons for this overeating has to do more with winter setting in. As winter starts to set in, we become lazier and choose to lay around. People are less active during the winter than the rest of the year. It’s too cold to be out and/or too icy to go out for a walk. We become like bears and just want to hibernate during the winter.

The reason why it starts around Halloween is because of all the Halloween candies that they get from trick or treating or the fact that they buy candies for trick or treaters in case they get some and they don’t show up. If you’re good parents, you would check your kids bags of goodies to make sure that they are safe to eat. Of course, you take what you like yourself. Who doesn’t love chocolate? Eating candies is actually very unhealthy for you.

Then coming in November, we have Thanksgiving, a holiday in which we have the tendency to over eat and stuff ourselves like we would stuff the turkey. Not only do we overeat, we would just lay around watching football and/or sleeping. In some families, there is lots of fighting going on as well. It doesn’t matter what the topics may be either. When people are upset, we have the tendency to eat to stuff our feelings.

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid found in various foods such as turkey. It can influence mood and sleep by affecting serotonin and melatonin production. While it may promote relaxation, overall diet and lifestyle greatly affect sleep quality. This is why lying on the couch and ready to nap after eating your Thanksgiving meal. You also might be left wondering why the meal makes you tired, especially if you have eaten lots of turkey. People often cite an amino acid called tryptophan as a cause for the drowsiness. Other factors may be at play, including high fat and high sugar dishes and alcohol.

This is why it is advised not to eat before going to bed.

You also may wondered why a person feels stuffed as a turkey. I mean, who doesn’t love eating stuffings. I’m not a big turkey eater because I find that it can be rather dry; but I do love eating the stuffings.

If you can, stay away from gluten like bread, pancakes, cake, etc.

Who doesn’t love pumpkin pie, especially around Thanksgiving? I have a recipe for pumpkin pie that is so delicious. It’s no-bake, it’s made with graham cracker crust, pumpkin, whipped toppings, and vanilla pudding. it’s rich and fattening but I like it better than the original pumpkin pie.

After Thanksgiving, you are entering the season of Christmas. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, is usually a time to do lots of baking lots of sweets such as cookies, fudge and pies,etc. Who doesn’t love to baked cookies and such? Usually around Christmas, I would do lots of baking to share and have to admit do some overeating as well.

Even though I had lost some weight, around 50 pounds after making a goal to eat healthier when I turned 50. I did that by choosing to change my diet and start eating healthier. I cooked with olive oil instead of vegetable oil. I also would do more cooking with herbs as well. I also try to eat more vegetables and salads and less meat as well.

So far, I’m healthy, my heart is good and high blood pressure is good;even though I’m 59 and heart trouble runs in my family. The biggest health scare came after I got the first dose of the vaccine; which I called “poison”,caused me to have a dizzy spell and being overheated. When I went in for a follow-up, the doctor couldn’t find a reason for that health scare, and they wouldn’t admit it was the vaccine.

I also would take apple cider vinegar in my water. When I had to get the vaccine, I was told to take lemon juice to dilute the poisons.

Since I had to get the poisons(vaccine), this past year I have been battling a sinus infection. I was told to get plenty of vitamin C and to avoid dairy, to see what difference it would make. It’s better to drink Almond milk over regular milk.

After the Holidays are over, we would make a New Years resolution to lose weight and work out more. When we make these resolutions, it will only last for about a month and then we just give up. The workout equipment we buy then end up on the streets during Spring cleanup week.

We join the gym to workout but park up close to the gym, stores and events such as a concert to avoid walking too far. Sometimes, we would even take the elevator over the stairs.

Sorry,I made you a little hungry with the beginning of this blog. I may be overweight but I have been working on improving my diet to eat healthy. I’m not saying that I don’t cheat; but at least I’m trying to improve.

It’s cheaper to eat unhealthy than it is to eat healthy. That is why, healthcare is so expensive. We can cut the cost of healthcare if we just learn to eat healthier and avoid food that is bad for you like processed food,diet soda , sweets, bread, etc. Diet pop is actually worse for you because of the ingredient that is in it caused heart trouble. If the doctors knew we knew all this, we could drive them out of business. We should avoid taking the vaccine for Covid if you can. Eat healthy organic food that do not have any pesticide in it.

I’m no doctor, but because of the research I do, this is my advice. I may not be perfect at eating healthy but I’m doing better than what I had in the past. I’m not saying I don’t cheat. I be lying if I did say that. It’s better than any fad diets out there and much cheaper in the long run than going to see a doctor for any unforeseen illness. Quit smoking, quit drinking alcohol, and avoid junk food by eating healthier.

Drink plenty of water, but make sure that it’s pure water and not filled with chemicals that will poison us. Fargo doesn’t have the best water. It’s very polluted and so there is a lot of chemicals put into our water to purified it. That is why the water in Fargo sometimes stink and taste terrible. Well water is much better for you than water Fargo gets out of the Red River.

During this holiday seasons, change your diet to eat healthier. Avoid eating too much sweets. Look for a healthy way to eat this holiday season. Have a happy holiday this holiday season and eat healthier to avoid going to the hospital for any health scare and gaining unnecessary weight. Once you have gained the weight, it’s much harder to lose the fat.
