In the ’80’s, it was “Mamas, don’t let your boys be cowboys,” by Waylon Jennings. In that song, one of the line said to let them be doctors and lawyers and such.
When my nephew was young, he wanted to be a cowboy.
Who haven’t played cowboys and Indians as a child? I know I had played it back then.
Back then, it was alright to say Indians; now the political correct term is Native Americans.
Living the cowboys life may have been tough but life was much more simpler.A person didn’t have to worry about as much as they do today. As Toby Keith sang, I should have been a cowboy. Roaming the wide open spaces and sleeping under the stars. You didn’t have the government breathing down your neck like you do now.
Now Jason Aldean has a song out there called, “Let Your Boys be Country.” In the song, make them proud of that middle nowhere. Let them work the hay field sweating for a little cash. Teach them to say yes ma’am or no ma’am. May they grow up to be someone to be proud of.
Ladies love country boys! Country boys knows how to work and how to respect. There’s nothing like living in the country. It’s so much more peaceful and relaxing. Just getting out of town is the best cure for all the crazies.
It used to be that those who lives in the rural areas would vote Democrats; but that had changed completely. It changed because those from the country knows how to work and how to play.
I’m from the country and I like it that way.Even though, I didn’t much care at first when we first moved to Rollag. As I get older and the world gets crazier,I’m getting to prefer the country even more.
Like the old TV series,Green Acres, Eva Gabor would say,”give me Park Avenue.” Well to that,I say,”give me fresh air and the peace and quiet of being in the country.
In this series that I will be writing, there will be a theme about how much better living in the country and small town is compared to living in the big cities. Even though, the city may be convenient; it’s so nice just to get away from it all. Whenever I can I love to just get the hell out of dodge. As the song goes, “if I don’t come back, don’t come a looking.”
This may be short, but I’ll say more in the other 3 parts.stay tuned!
